One Atlantic Events

I decided to spend my summer interning with a wedding planning company in Atlantic City, NJ called One Atlantic Events. The gorgeous venue is surrounded by tall glass windows overlooking the Atlantic City boardwalk and beach. It is a perfect setting for a bride to make their special day absolutely perfect. So far I have worked during two weddings; both serving and assisting the wedding coordinator, and I have also worked with the banquet manager.

During a wedding I help the wedding coordinator with whatever she needs to make the evening go smoothly. We were are in charge of directing outside vendors such as the flouriest, band, and photographers too exactly where they need to go and what they need to do. We stock the bridal and groom suite and assist them with whatever they need the entire day. We also work with the banquet manager to ensure each server, bartender, and the entire kitchen staff is doing exactly what they need to be doing. One thing I learned is the importance of communication. We wear headsets that communicate to the banquet manager, and the greeters to ensure that everyone is alerted if there is a problem or a task that needs to be done. The night is planned out to a specific schedule that needs to be followed in order to have a successful wedding. Overall I love the work that I have been doing for the past two weeks, and I’m excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for me!

Internship

This summer I am doing an internship at a plastic surgery company in New Jersey. Last weekend they had an event with over 200 people and it was my job to help my boss plan the event, call vendors and set everything up. I helped her plan the budget of everything we needed. After the event took place, I sent out emails to each vendor and invite them back to the event next year. Other than doing all of these things, the past few weeks I helped my boss handle all the social medias accounts for events and other important information for the company. I also set up a few interviews for the new job openings and sent follow up emails to them to make sure that we were all on the same page. So far throughout my internship experience, I already made new connections that can help me progress with my future career. The rest of the summer I will be making press releases, planning more events, and communicating with various vendors to help build this company stronger. I cant wait to see what the rest of the summer with this company holds for me.

Internship Blog 1

Last week I started my internship at Holy Spirit Hospital-A Geisinger Affiliate in the Marketing and Public Relations department. My bosses threw me right into the action. On the very first day I wrote several news releases and I've written numerous more throughout these past weeks. I've also been included in on working with their advertising. I called several publications offices looking to place ads for the hospital's OB-GYN services for women in the area. I also traveled to ABC27 News with my boss and some of the hospital's spokespeople. There, they were interviewed on Good Day PA for the Spring Festival that the hospital runs every year. In addition to working with ABC27, Holy Spirit has also been filming segments with CBS. CBS News runs a weekly segment called Doc Talk. Each episode includes an interview with a doctor who is a specialist on the topic being discussed. Last week we worked on a segment with one of our pediatric surgeons on summer time injuries- What's normal and what's to be expected in the summer. I've also been involved in event planning. Today was the annual Business Women's Forum, held at Messiah College. I was able to help set up for the event and meet a few heads of local Chambers of Commerce. The event is a great opportunity to network and learn more about local corporations, plus provides women a fun day out of the office. So far, this internship has been an amazing experience and I'm getting the opportunity to do some networking of my own. I look forward to seeing what the rest of this internship has in store.
